Peugeot Onyx Concept

Unveiled for the first time in the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Peugeot Onyx 2-seater features supercar performance, with improved fuel economy and additional safety features. It has a unique sculpted aerodynamic shape, styled with innovative materials and architecture that stands out from most of the current production of Peugeot.
The exterior design features a unique mix of materials, with the bold sophisticated contrast between the polished copper metal panels and the matte black carbon fiber surfaces, which gives the Onyx a unique exterior appearance. The copper parts do not have additional surface protection, they are intended to age and change their appearance with time similarly to architectural elements.
The interior is minimalist design and further develops the exploration of alternative materials, all the soft surfaces – including the four seats – are made of felt (made from boiled wool), with interwoven fibers. The material is completely recyclable and has good thermal isolation and dehumidifying properties (improving the overall air quality). The hard surfaces of the dashboard, door panels and center tunnels are made with the “Newspaper Wood”, a material produced from used newspapers, assembled and compressed to create the illusion of wood traces through the print type.
Inspired by racing cars, the Onyx is equipped with 600 horsepower mid-mounted V8 HDi FAP 3.7-liter Hybrid engine combined with a KERS (kinetic energy recovery system), which channels braking energy into lithium ion batteries and then automatically discharges the power on acceleration, boosting the output by an additional 80 horsepower.
Overall, the Peugeot Onyx model is 4.65m long, 2.2m wide and just 1.13m high with only 1,100kg weight. With a line like this the drag coefficient is equal to 0.30. Accelerating form 0-100km/h in 2.9s.
The price of Peugeot Onyx is £1,000,000 ($1,678,000).
